Description
this listing is for one circa 1880's northern plains arrow from the Frederick Moose family collection in Porcupine, South Dakota, on the PineRidge Reservation..... total length of this arrow is 33 inches long.... the large rusty arrowhead is 2 inches long and 1 inch wide ... the fletching has some damage and is 6 inches long and appears to be wild turkey wing feathers.......the arrowhead and fletching are attached to the shaft with what appears to be rawhide strips.... this rawhide looks to be too light weight to be buffalo, so it must be deer or antelope?...... the shaft is very thin and is probaly willow shoot?......the shaft has four red stripes near the arrowhead....do not know what this marking signifies, but have seen it on a few museum arrows of the mandan and brule......overall condition is very good.....the length of this old arrow makes it evident that it was intended to be used by a "long bow", probably 60 onches long or longer......the heavy duty "BROADHEAD" arrowhead makes it apparent that this arrow was meant for "big game" such as buffalo, elk, or maybe even bear.....overall condition of this relic is, EXCELLENT....it even looks like it could be shot today...... "paper" for this arrow is by Windwalker Collectibles Inc but we always recommend that any purchaser of artifacts take his/her purchase to his/her favorite appraiser for their own evaluation... priority mail S&H of 8.75 includes delivery confirmation and insurance.....INTERNATIONAL priority mail is higher.... questions are welcome.... thank you very much for visiting our NATIVE AMERICAN INDIAN trading post....questions are welcome.......
