Description
Unusual and very fine, antique English Sterling Silver Perfume Bottle, dating to the Victorian period, circa: 1881.  English Sterling Perfume Bottle has a wonderful ornate engraved design of the Aesthetic Period (Japanese infuence).   The antique Perfume Bottle is cylinder in form with a hinged lid.  On one side of the Bottle is a long-necked bird, possibly a Crane, wading in a marsh with reeds surrounding it; on the other side is a figure in Japanese dress (Kimono?) standing behind what an open Fan.  The lid has an Old English style "R' monogram on the top and is gilted on the inside (gold wash over sterling).   The Perfume Bottle is quite unusual as many of this type of Perfume Bottle lacks decoration.  One does not usually find one of this quality and condition, as most of this type are rather plain and usually badly dented.   The Silver Perfume Bottle is hallmarked in multiple places (please see below for descriptions).   Shows well in the photos and of course, more detailed and prettier in person.  Please note that the piece is picking up amber reflections of the room and is NOT part of the piece!!   Is in fine condition----no dents nor repairs.  The original stopper is inside and is intact (usually these are broken) and is in fine shape with the exception of a minor 'chip' near the base---too minor to be considered damage, but needed to mention it here.  Note that the interior glass liner has mostly been broken away.  Though as mentioend, its Glass Stopper is in tact!!   The Perfume Bottle measures 2 1/4" tall and 7/8" in diameter. (HALLMARK DESCRIPTIONS:  The Perfume Bottle is marked in three places---on the bottom, under the lid and on the side. On the side of the bottle, are four marks, the first three are rubbed, though the second could be a lions head, the third, possibly the letter F, the fourth mark, is well struck head of Victoria. On the inside of the gilted lid, there is a set of three marks: three letters that could be: HTB or HTR or MTB or MTR, the second mark is a lion and the third mark looks to be an F inside a crest. On the bottom of the bottle, the marks are rubbed, however, there are three initials (these look to be the same letters as on the inside lid) and a mark of a lion).   Please scroll all the way down and across to view all photos.  Is a wonderful English Aesthetic period piece of exceptional quality and design and much more detailed and beautiful in person!!     NO RESERVE.  For payment we prefer PayPal (with confirmed address), though accept money orders, personal checks in U.S. dollars, Visa and MasterCard.  See Payment details for more information.  Pennsylvania residents add 6% sales tax. Shipping, handling and insurance additional.  Shipping prices vary according to location.   Please read Seller's Return Policy and Seller's Payment Instructions before bidding.  Thank you!   Sorry, Bids from bidders without feedback will be blocked.      EE35
