Description
Well, it is very rare to have an authentic "F & C Osler" chandelier up on Ebay auction and I currently have 3, [now that this incredible piece is listed]. I am very lucky, but I also hunt down chandeliers from all over the world- full time. Osler has caught my attention, their pieces are of the highest quality, their delicate features, yet they are very bold lighting statements. Osler began manufacturing cut glass lighting in 1807 in Hockley, near Birmingham England. I guarantee my Chandeliers to be authentic, I take a lot of pride in my work. That said, this chandelier was created in 1860 and was a gas fixture which has been modified to electric but retains all of its original glory. Very hard to describe this piece, it is a Neoclassic inspired beauty. Cut frosted glass make up all components, 5 lights, the most amazing gas shades deeply etched. Notice the work, please look closely at all pics. The glass cutting is the finest I have ever seen. The bobesche under the arms, the huge "Greek Key" motif cut glass plate underneath, that lights up, the matching motif on the top canopy, all symetrically stunning. 39 inches by 26 inches. This chandelier is signed/marked deeply "F & C OSLER". Look at the central vase, the delicate chain draping the piece entirely, I could go on and on. Please look and ask me any questions that you may have. Be confident I guarantee my chandeliers to be authentic. These pieces are usually sold at high end auction houses, rarely do they come up for sale on Ebay. I am happy to have it up and my prices are a fraction of the big auction houses. One bobesche has been repaired- old repair done well, was cracked - single line and repaired very well, not noticeable unless you are looking for it. One other bobesche had a chip that was repaired, minor and no detraction, otherwise excellent!!! Good Luck! My wonderful Gas Lighting Consultant emailed me a photo he found of this chandelier while researching historical archives, along with its original number. Unbelievable!, email me if you wish to see a copy.
