Pre Columbian serpentine were jaguar maskette. This maskette has a monumental presence despite it's relatively small size. It measures 2 3/4" across and is deeply concave on the reverse. It is biconically drilled twice on top of the head. Two holes were started in antiquity on the bottom two corners, but were never finished. The mask is pure Olmec form and is one of the rarest and most collectable types of Pre Columbian artifacts. The mask has been verbally authenticated by Bill Jackson at Jackson gallery and is guaranteed ancient with any of the top authenticators.
