This item is a polished brass intricate working nautical ship sextant reproduction. The sextant itself is quite detailed, with 6 filter lens, twin reflective mirrors, extendable sight telescope, and large swing arm. The arm features a magnifying lens with slow or fast movement screws: one is used to loosen the arm so it can swing easily move along the full 120 degree arc. The other screw is used for precision adjustments while looking through the magnifying lens. The full arc is inset with white metal to contrast with the brass, and features individual degree demarcations. Imagine sailing ship captains in the early 1900s using an instrument like this. Crafted in the style of a century ago, this sextant has a nicely polished and finished wood handle, as well as brass stand legs for upright easy display. Additionally, it is fully functional! All in all, would make a great gift for the sextant enthusiast and novice alike.
