I think it's an old wood globe case but I have no idea and will start it very low and let the experts decide it's age and what if any value it has. I could not find anything similar on ebay and very little info elsewhere. This case is in overall excellent shape with no cracks and measures approximately 7" across. The inside is painted an orangey brown color which again leads me to believe it's a globe case as the only other example of a globe  I could find on the internet was painted orange on the inside.
