We avidly collect McArthur's designs, and have not seen another example of this chair come to market in the last ten years. This is probably because it was a very expensive model when initially produced in the 1930s, and there were very few of these chairs made. This example has been recently reupholstered in an ivory color linen fabric, and it is ready to go into your home or gallery. This chair has a sculptural form that would fit seamlessly into any interior, from traditional to ultra-modern. The chair presents extremely well. That said, here is a detailed condition report: It is in very good shape, with some slight flexibility and wear to the aluminum back straps. The top strap is a bit more flexible than the other two straps, as most of the weight from the back and head rested on this strap. The middle strap has some small snips where the strap enters the side posts and some scratches and wear. We are unsure if this was done when the chair was produced. The front two feet lean in just the slightest bit. This can only be seen from an angle. The chair has some scratches and wear, commensurate with it's age.
