Fabrics from the 1800's up to perhaps the 1930's were used, There are plaids. geometrics,, florals...many types of prints employed. A lively blue, green, and white print was used for the sashings. The backing is an OUTSTANDING Art Deco print in a muted orange blue, black, and white. It was brought around to the front and machine-stitched to serve as the binding. The quilt was machine-pieced and hand-quilted. Quilting is lightly done at 4 spi in the form of outline-quilting around each block. Batting is thin cotton and quilt measures 72" x 82". A handful of blemishes include two spots the size of a pencil-tip-eraser, one pinhead-size spot, one dime-size and one nickel-size. The backing has two light watermarks (they do not go through to the front) ...one is about six inches square and the other is about six inches by two inches. Near the edge there is a narrow black streak that is about three inches in length. Not certain of age...I would guess it was likely made in the 1920's or 30's. There is little to no wear evident and the piece is in unwashed condition. Fabrics are vibrant and sturdy. This quilt could definitely be acceptable for daily use. A BEAUTY!!
