This will look fabulous given a new lease of life in the right setting. The knocker moves smoothly and the letterbox spring appears to have been updated at some point and does not need replacing. The original screws and bolts are not present but replacements are readily available from any hardware store. Although definitely an Archibald Kenrick & Sons piece, this example is marked simply ENGLAND, which is far from uncommon. Very reminiscent of the famous bat motif you see on slightly later Jugendstil (German Art Nouveau) metalwares by WMF. Don't miss this fabulous authentic and extremely eye-catching piece. © Text and photographs by room_606.
