It is made of oak and is very typically arts and crafts influenced in the choice of wood, the large Arts and Crafts/Art nouveau handles and the design carved into the cupboard doors. There is something "country" about the sideboard with everything solid and rustic in feel. The mirror back has turned columns to support the cornice above. A shaped shelf. The mirror glass is original and is in excellent condition for it's age. This is a very attractive piece if you are furnishing in the arts and crafts and would sit equally well in a dining room or on a flagged kitchen floor. The sideboard has two draws and good storage space within the cupboards. One of the side's of the dresser has a natural shrinkage split and the dresser top also has another natural shrinkage split, all part if it's history. One of the draw handles needs a little attention, i.e the stud that holds one side of the handle has come away from the plate that is screwed into the draw front, but all the components are present, and the left side cupboard door handle has half of the loop handle missing. This is a very nice quality made item in very good condition for being over 100 years old, and has been with the same family since new. There are no serious problems, only just everyday light wear and marks from the passing years. Measurements, the sideboard is 54 inches wide and 22 inches deep and the overall height is 78 inches high from floor to the very top.
