Description
VERY FINE 19TH C. "BEST OF TYPE" RENNELL ISLANDS CLUB. Originating from the Polynesian Rennell Island group of the Solomon Islands, offered is the finest club of its type that I have yet seen. Referred to as a baukiana club, this club is particularly fine in its form, its beautiful glossy patina, and its very fine sennit plaiting at both the head and terminus of the club. The club measures 15 1/4 inches (38.5 cm.) in length. The club was originally purchased from a New Zealand collection of Solomon Island artifacts and was collected in the early 20th century. Offered is a unique bidding opportunity for those collectors looking for a "best of type" Polynesian club. This is a private auction to safeguard and guarantee bidder / buyer anonymity. Please note that I prefer using FedEx shipping. But I can certainly ship via any service requested. The quoted charge may vary depending on the ultimate destination and requested service. The successful bidder pays only actual shipping charges. No additional packing or handling charges will be assessed. Please contact me with any question. Also, please review and consider my other current outstanding auctions which include a superb stone carved Sepik River mask, a stone carved Fijian priest's dish, another magnificent Rennell Islands club, a distinctive Vanuatu dance mask figure, and a highly collectible Tongan neck rest.
