Description
Here are two interesting and unusual matching folding surgical knives for use in the field, possibly by a military surgeon. The (slightly) larger knife, marked for Arnold, is made from steel with nickel casing and a single curved blade with the cutting edge on the inner concave side. The other knife, marked for Arnold & Bone, is part brass and steel with nickel casing and two sharp surgical blades. One blade is curved with an inner cutting edge; the other has an unsharpened flattened shaft with a small, flat end, turned down. The lower curved and inner edges are sharpened for fine, detailed incisions. The firm of Arnold was in business in London from 1819 until shortly after WW!. They were 'by appointment' manufactures of surgical instruments to some of the big London hospitals. I cannot find a record of Arnold and Bone as a partnership. The knives measure approx 3.5 inches (89 mm) when closed, and weigh 105 grams. P&P will be £1.50 for First Class Recorded UK delivery; overseas £2.50. No reserve artyess Store
