Overall dimensions: 72 3/4 w x 27 5/8 d x 32 3/4 h in. Seat depth: 21 in. Seat height: 19 in. Arm height: 26 1/4 in. Crafted of gorgeous naturally variegated red crotch mahogany and solid mahogany hardwood Handcrafted birch intarsia (inlay) Gold "ormolu" rosettes Hardwood inner frame Eight-way hand-tied springs in back and seat New padding added - to bring comfort level up to "today's" standards Upholstered in new luxurious golden tan linen velvet fabric* Very comfortable and sturdy! This style was known as "Karl Johan" beginning around 1818 in Sweden - named after the Swedish king of the era - whereas the term "Biedermeier" originated in Germany and Austria. This particular sofa is a fine example of Karl Johan Revival, popular in the early part of the 20th century in Sweden - combining the traditional Karl Johan or Biedermeier style with the 1920's aesthetic. Now the name "Biedermeier" is used to describe the aesthetics of this clean-lined, elegant form of Northern European decorative arts, regardless of origin or era.*Please note that variations in color and nap are characteristic of linen velvet. About Us BJORK ANTIKT is a direct importer and wholesaler of quality antiques and vintage furniture. We have two locations in Atlanta, GA - a new showroom located in ADAC (Atlanta Decorative Arts Center) and a large warehouse in West Atlanta. Our shipments are primarily from Sweden, but we also import pieces from Denmark, Norway and Finland. We hand-select our items, refurbish or restore if necessary, and offer them to you directly in "showroom condition." However, it is important to realize that we deal primarily in antique and vintage items that will often show varying degrees of age and wear (i.e. patina, nicks, dings, etc.). We do our best to describe each item in detail, but we often do not overstate obvious signs of normal age and wear that are inherent in these items.. Because these items have led a prior life, there is also a strong possibility that some pieces may have been repaired in the past. We go over every piece very carefully and touch-up any problem areas, but if a repair was well-done, it is possible that it may not be detected. Please contact us with any specific questions. Wood pieces often experience some sort of cracking or warping due to changes in climate, hydration or dehydration. If they occur at all, they are usually minor stress cracks which are structurally insignificant and cosmetically appealing. Painted pieces will often show natural distressing from use and can often show a bit of age or separation as is normal in antique painted furniture. We will make every effort to point out and photograph extreme cases of distressing, chipped, worn or damaged finishes.
