The quality and composition of this bronze sculpture is among the finest made by this very important well listed 19th century French Sculptor. This magnificent sculpture is 30-1/2 inches tall and 13-1/2 inches wide. It is in superb condition. Gaudez studied with Jouffroy. He began exhibiting at the Paris Salons in 1864 winning medals including the first class medal in 1881. This was the one of the highest achievement imaginable at that time. He was recognized at an early age for his ability to create and capture the life like images of the subjects he sculptured. This is one of his finest works. His highest priced bronze at auction sold for $149,000. in New York at Christies a Turkish Pricess bust 30 inches tall the same size as this sculpture sold on May 2, 2001 for $149,000. That’s 15 times the price we are offering this rare and beautiful example of this artists work for.
