Description Signed Victorian Crazy Quilt with Political Ribbons-NR! DIMENSIONS Crazy quilt measures 56" x 65". Weighs 3 lbs. Extra crazy quilt square 18 1/2" x 19". DESCRIPTION This wonderfully balanced Victorian Crazy Quilt top features political ribbons from a Ulysses S. Grant tribute and the Grand Army of the Republic along with embroidered Kate Greenaway figures. The feather stitching is intact and consistent, giving the quilt a cohesive look. A black binding highlights the scalloped edging. Like so many crazies of this period, some of the silks have deteriorated, but the owner is including a crazy quilt block which could be used as a source of restoration fabrics. This would be a great wall piece framed for a bank or law office lobby or would be a great addition to the collection of a Civil War buff with an interest in Grant or the GAR. The photos below are quite detailed, and we have documented the areas with damage. The majority of the quilt is in excellent condition. There is a heavily embroidered B on the quilt – we assume it is the initial of the quiltmaker but we have no history or provenance on the quilt.
