Description
We Are Offering This Very Rare Signed Tiffany Studios Solid Bronze Lamp. This lamp was very limited in production, and we have never seen this lamp ever come up for auction or private sales like many other signed Tiffany models. This lamp has been in the same family since the early 20th century. The lamp is shown in the Tiffany Lamp Book by Dr. Egon Neustadt on page 56. The Linenfold shade is 14" in width and has a 6" aperture. Basiclly coned shaped, it actually has 16 sides. The entire center side is composeed of a 3" long panel of amber pleated glass, vertically rippled in a linenfold design. These oblongs are bounded from the top and bottom by thin strips of the same glass, with the ripples in this instance running horizonally. The remainder of the shade is made up of two continuous metal strips, one below and one above the pleated panels; each strip is bent sixteen times to conform to the angle of the panels. The lower edge of the 2" wide bottom strip is slightly lipped. The narrower upper metal stripends in a wider scalloped lip at the aperture. As another exception to the rule, the shade of Linenfold, like of the Abalone Desk Lamp, is finnished in Gold Dore rather than plain gold. Perhapes this can accounted for by the large expanse of metal areas of the two shades. The shade is signed and numbered 1931. The intergrated base has a round 8 1/2" platform with a free-form lip; it is 23" high, including the finial, and is signed and numbered 586. A tubular center stem is airily encased by long stylized leaves. Six leaves emerge from the middle of the main stem and curved outward and downward to the platform; six curve upward and cradel a serrated ball which rests on the top of the base stem. The perforated finial has a flower knob. Like the base and shade, it is finnished in Gold Dore. Like Most Tiffany Glass Lamp Shades this one has some panels damaged with cracks which does not deter value. This rare lamp was commissioned by Fred Fisher the oldest of the seven Fisher Brothers who were the founders of the Fisher Body Coach Company for General Motors. This lamp was made for the Fisher Mansion The Art Deco Gold Gilded Riverfront Mansion which was completed in the great depression.
