Description
Early 19th century Sextant by Thomas Jones. This is believed to be circa 1835, all original and in very good condition. The Keystone box is cherry color with small nail holes from the original brads when it was manufactured. There are interlocking joints with two clasps, two hinges & a skeleton key hole (do not have the key), there is a small piece of wood missing from one corner (this is cosmetic and not structural). Imprinted on the Sextant is...sold by Janet Taylor 104 Minories London ....Thomas Jones 62 Charing Cross London. The overall sextant is brass, the scale is brass in color with the remaining part of it being black. There are three sighting tubes, seven shades & two mirrors, the long tube has a brass "clamp" that holds it in place within the case. There is a certification? label inside the case from D. Mc Gregor & Co. it had been loosely pasted over another label. Shipping charges calculated for continental United States, sextant will be shipped with insurance at no additional cost to the United States.
