Description
krischan Store Schatz MARINER chrome SHIPS BELL CLOCK condition EXCELLENT This is a very pretty ship’s clock by Schatz, Germany. It has the traditional “Engine Room Gages” case with screw-on front bezel, is polished chrome that looks like silver . It was manufactured about 25 years ago and was part of my personal collection, stored in my safe. I recently took it out to photograph it and oil the movement. For the last 2 weeks I have it running on my test stand, watching it and counting the ships bell. It was never mounted, there is not a scratch or tarnish on the case, and the lens and the dial are perfect. It only ran for a few weeks on my test stand and should be considered unused. It has a 7-jewel 8-day movement, the finest Schatz ever made, and will run 9 to 10 days per winding, keeping really good time within the limits of a mechanical clock. The accuracy over an 8 day period will change slightly from fully wound toward the end due to changing spring tension. I set the gain/loss as close as possible but, as any clock man knows, the rate may change due to vibrations during shipment and may have to be reset. There is a Slow/Fast adjustment screw above the 12. The ship’s bell chimes ONE BELL at 12:30, increasing by ONE every half hour in a 4 hour (8 Bells) watch rhythm. This way the ships crew will know the time even in the dark. It can be turned off. The sound is generated by a spiral wound gong. Due to the small size of the clock, 4-1/4” (110 mm) diameter by 2-1/8” (53 mm) deep, the sound is not very loud, but I can still hear it two rooms away, when it is quiet.  If you like to hear it go to: “Ask seller a question” and give me your e-mail address and I will send you the bell sound as a .wav file. It has a white dial with the "Navy Time or Military Time", both 1 to 12 and 13 to 00. A chrome plated Winding Key, 3 Mounting Screws and a copy of the instructions will be included. This clock comes from a smoke free environment without pets. Also, the manufacturer is gone, there is no factory warranty. If something should go wrong I will fix it free of charge within 2 month, except for the shipping expense both ways. It will be carefully packed and mailed with US Postal Service Priority Mail, Shipping & Handling $14.00. Insurance is recommended for $3.00 additional. I will ship world-wide, except to Italy. Please inquire for shipping rates out of the country. Insurance however is not available for some places. This clock is a rare find, and a great gift for any sailor or yachtsman! Please place your best bid now so that no sniper can take it away from you. Thank you.
