Description
Japanese Washi Woodblock Print: Japanese Washi is the traditional hand made paper used in Japan for hundreds of years and is made using fibers from Kozo (Mulberry) bark, Gampi, a bush found in the mountains of Japan, and Mitsumata, A bush that originated in China.  The long fibers of Gampi and Mitsumata are beaten, boiled, bleached and then mixed with Kozo fibers, to give the papers its distinctive appearance.   Because of its long fibers and unique process, it is said that Japanese washi can be made the thinnest, toughest, and most durable of all handmade papers.    Close up of Japanese Washi:   Description: Rare Japanese Art:  Item #429 - Samurai with sword in one hand, spear in the other hand.
