Description
One of a kind fossil Eskimo ice axe made from fossil walrus ivory with original scrimshaw by Salman Rashidi. The artifact was used thousands of years ago to chop blocks of ice to make igloos. Ice axes were also used to cut blubber. The wooden stand is made of cocobola and mammoth ivory. The title of the piece is "High Tide". The size of the ivory without stand is 7" height by 3 3/8" width by 1" depth.Bass Harbor Light is a big attraction in Maine. It is famous for it's rocks. This scene is a beautiful depiction of the building, rocks and splashes. The color of the artifact was used carefully to show an early evening with high tide. Notice the color from the sky is reflecting in the foam to show a beautiful balance. Please feel free to ask any questions prior to purchase. Also visit our About Me section for more information on the artist.
