G.' Description Offered is a superb ceremonial headdress known as a "wagnen" and made and used by the Wosera Abelam people. This headdress is the stylized representation of the painted triangular facade of the "spirit house" known as a "korumbo." It is worn by male initiates and is made of palm spathe and has two "wings," one on either side. The light wood elements are bound together using natural fiber. The red color is derived from red clay, yellow is from yellow ochre, white is from limestone, and the black from charcoal. The main portion of the obverse side is a stylized anthropomorphic male ancestor figure. The reverse presents stylized lineal figures. This piece was collected in the mid-1970s and is in excellent condition. The height of the headdress is 27 inches (68.5 centimeters). The shipping weight is 5 pounds. The shipping carton measures 30 inches x 5 inches x 24 inches. I will ship this to any location worldwide.
