Nuremberg, 1752. Bound in contemporary half dark brown sheep with grey paper covered boards. Corners a bit worn. Few tiny wormholes to spine. Foot of spine abit chipped. Some superficial paper loss to lower boards. a bit worn, but in very original, unrestored condition. Binding a little shaken. Old ink number and paper label to upper board. Engraved title page, (40) pages, 50 double page hand-coloured maps, complete as list. Celestial planisphere followed by double hemisphere of world, various maps of European principalities, Russia, Asia, Africa and America. The following 13 maps are a little toned to a more yellow shade - Switzerland, Italy, Piedmont, Sardinia and Sicily, Austria, The Rhine, France, Westphalia, Bergen, Sweden, Prussia, Africa and America. This toning seems wholly random and would appear to be a result of varying paper stock used. Also bound with a large double page mileage chart. Bound in at the front in addition is the title page from the Atlas Germaniae dated 1735 (with small partially excised ink stamp), two large engraved portraits, two text leaves, a coloured title to the Atlas Novus, and a large double page plate of armillary spheres and globes. A rare example of a complete Homann atlas, this example with some extras bound in as well. A scarce item of great beauty, that last complete example on ABPC selling in 1980.
