galerielithique Store SUPERB FLINT PERCUTOR Typology : Superb specimen of a large percutor. Cutting : This piece was created using a naturally rounded flint pebble. One side was cut flat, and the edges were slightly crushed. The face shows many impacts of percussion. A thin negative flake scar is present on the round body, that area also displays signs of lighter impacts. Evidence of useware is clearly visible. Rare piece ! Dating, hominid : This implement belongs to the lower Acheulian Culture (Lower Paleolithic period, circa 500 000 years ago), and was conceived by Homo HEIDELBERGENSIS. Origin : It was found in the Grand-Pressigny area, discovered in the Creuse's ancient riverbed, where the flint was polished in the turmoils of the sands and waters. Sizes : 7.5 cm and 9 cm Weight :  500g A beautiful patina embellishes this tool from the Acheulian Culture. Very well preserved, no modern damage.
