Description BEAUTIFUL ANTIQUE SHAHSAVAN RUNNER, NW Persian, Azerbaijan region, last quarter of the 19th century, and in excellent condition. The exact size is: 3'-10" x 10'-6" (117 x 320 cm).  A lovely furnishing runner. Soft wool combined with rich natural dyes makes this carpet juicy to the eye. Overall full pile condition with minor lower pile in one red medallion and one end border area (see close up photos). Ivory wool warps and wefts. Notice the unusual use of Marasali Shirvan birds as a border motifs. A very fine weaving in all respects and quite decorative. NO rips, holes, tears, reweaves, moth damage, dryness, stiffness, stains, odors, color run, or fading. Just professionally cleaned to museum standards. One end finish still has remnants of the original plain-weave and one end is sewn back secure with a "box stitch" to prevent loss of knots (see close up photo, bottom right).
