Afshar have Turkmen origin and long time ago lived in northwestern Iran near Urmia Lake. Nader Shah was the most famous King that came from Afshar tribe who sized India and ruled Iran around eighteen centuries. He transports the Afshar tribe to current location. Afshar tribe is doing trade for a grain and fruit, also.     Afshar carpets are beautiful and there is high demand for them. The carpets from Afshar have geometrical patterns. Usually Afshar carpets have lots of different designs and there is not unique pattern to distinguish Afshar carpet from other tribal carpet. There are some similarities between Bijar and Afshar carpets.     The Afshar carpets have different size. Most Afshar carpets do not exceed (5x8 Feet). Afshar carpets have rectilinear designs. They usually use natural colors. Light red, light ivory and khaki are the common coloration in Afshar rugs and runners. Weavers of Afshar rugs made the rugs and carpets very tight and using flat woven.     The pile appears to have been longer than average for Afshar rugs. It is a common Asian nomadic practice to use thick rugs as sleeping mats, and it is reasonable to assume that these rugs may have served that purpose.
