Italian edition, the map shows Sicily, Corse and Sardinia in the ancient World, sea monsters and a ship, wonderful hand colouring. The map includes Sicily and Sardinia. Text on verso in Italian. The author was an Egyptian astronomer and geographer, he lived in Alexandria around 100 A.D. The Geographia “dominated the whole of the Christian and Moslem world for 1,500 years” (Tooley Maps p. 5). It was him who introduced the concept of latitude to form a grid to cover the whole World. The first illustrated edition was printed in 1477 in Bologna.
