Click on the thumbnails to view enlargements A set of six antique buttons - each featuring the image of MARIA THERESA (1717-1780) Queen and Consort of FRANCIS I last Emperor of the Holy Roman Empire. Circa late 19th century. Each silver metal button depicts Maria Theresa, in bust profile, facing right, and within a laurel wreath. The buttons have a Latin inscription: M.(ARIA) THERESIA D(EI)G.(RATIA) R.(OMANORUM IMP.(ERATRIX) HUN.(GARY BOH.(EMIA) REG.(INA) which translates - Maria Theresa, by the Grace of God, Empress of the Romans, Queen of Hungary and Bohemia. Maria Theresa had 16 children, one of whom, Marie Antoinette, married Louis XVI of France. Each button is in excellent condition and measures 1 inch in diameter. Cost of shipping handling and postage to be paid by buyer. Postage is usually by priority mail and averages $5.50 uninsured but amount can vary according to weight and cost of final bid. Insurance is extra. Payment to be by money order, cashier's cheque, or personal cheque. All cheques will be held 7 business days or until cleared by bank.
