Shiebler Repousse Sterling Silver Thread or Spool Holder. This spool holder is almost mint! The top has an engraved initials of BW. Every area but the bottom of the holder is completely covered with a repousse scroll pattern. The bottom is marked Sterling, #3152 and has the Shiebler wings with an S in the center. The holder comes apart at the center to load a spool of thread. Th bottom peice has a small hole to put the thread thru and the top has a key hole the thread comes thru. When not in use you turn the top and it locks the thread in place. What a handy and unique item ladies would have used on a regular basis. The holder measures 1 1/2" tall and 1 1/8" in diameter and weighs .9 ounces. The holder was made before 1915 and it is in great condition with only minor surface wear, maybe one or two tiny dings and a dent on the bottom. The old Coats & Clark's thread comes with the holder.
