Rare Denticulate- Scraper, Mousterian, Fam. Provenance DescriptionType: denticulate – scraper on flakePaleolithic Period, Industry: Middle Paleolithic: Mousterian / Mousterian in Acheulian Tradition (MAT)Dating: the particular site: ca. 55.000- 40.000 B.C Description: Size: length 4,5 cm, weight 12 grams Shape, Retouch: a very uncommon, rare double-tool combination on flake without point of percussion. The proximal end is retouched on the exterior side with some broad flaking. The left edge of the interior side is the denticulated one, retouch is careful and considerable. The left edge of the exterior side is cortical, it’s distal part is broken off. The break is carefully retouched at the distal end. The convex distal end of the tool is an endscraper, made with parallel retouch and continuous edge modification Raw-material: black flint with some bright spots Preservation: very well, no modern damages Origin, Site: Le Moustier, the most famous Mousterian site in France We have been listing more interesting paleolithic artifacts, please have a look!
