We purchased this Bronze from an estate sale of a private collector of Bronze Sculptures; this was sold next to a beautiful Bronze Candelabra by Maitland Smith. We believe this Bronze is of a Roman Soldier for many reasons…. The Roman Soldier dressed in a helmet, male breastplate, leg and arm guards, belt, tunic and boots. They carried shields (this Soldier has a Ram at the top of his shield), swords, daggers, spears and javelins. Shields were carried in the soldier’s left hand. They used a long, double-edged sword, which was carried on the soldier’s right side. This Roman Soldier Statue is also standing on a globe, which we believe is probably depicting the domination of the Roman Empire. The Artist’s rendition and the amazing detail are of museum quality. Unfortunately the pictures do not fully show you how absolutely beautiful this is, when you receive this treasure you will be delighted. He is approximately 16” Tall and the base is 5-3/4” in diameter and weighs approximately 20-lbs. It is in excellent condition. Good Luck and FAOY!
