Description
The partners were Gianluigi Banfi, Lodovico Belgiojoso, Enrico Peressutti, and Ernesto Nathan Rogers. From each component's family name, came the acronym "BBPR". The Studio of architects designed the famous Velasco Tower in Milan, as well as the Olivetti interiors and buildings in New York, as well as Europe. These are just some of their known accomplisments. These very rare pair of lounges "ELETTRA" were designed by BBPR Studio, 1953, made by ARFLEX. The chair is on page 355 of the book "1000 Chairs" by Taschen. They are just about unheard of here in the United States. The dining chairs are pictured in the famous book "Mid Century Modern" by Cara Greenburg, page 120. I have six of them for my dining room table that I just got directly from France with the original purple upholstery. I have a picture from a famous Italian book with the lounge chairs in them, as well as the Elettra dining room chairs. Also another graphics picture of the Elettra lounge on the cover of Domus magazine introducing this revolutionary chair. The wrought iron legs and body has no pitting and is smooth and polished at all weld points -- not cheap spot welding. It has not been repainted and does not need it. These have been redone recently per original cushion dimensions etc in a neutral tan/mustard smooth, soft fabric. The covers are removable on the back and the seat, as it was designed in the original for dry-cleaning. The understructure and design is beautiful. They all have their original hard rubber glides on all legs, as well as two each for the top back section. They are comfortable and light, as there is no wood involved in the construction of the seat. The seat consists of straps with fabric wrapped tight and pulled. A loose cushion just sits on the top. I cannot emphasize how rare these are and how nice they look in modern homes as your main lounge chairs. The dimensions are: 27 inches back height 23.5 inches wide on the cushion 24 inches deep on the cushion 17 inches high on the seat Shipping is through Greyhound for free. Ask any questions. Thanks.
