Description
Up for bid is a rare 18th-century coin silver cream pitcher made by William Hollingshead in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Circa 1780. A fine early neoclassical piece with a round base and delicate, strap handle. It is marked "WH" in a conforming reserve twice on the base and bears its original engraved initials on the front "B" over "W*S". 5.5" tall and approximately 4 ozt.Condition: Overall, in very good condition. The marks are slightly worn and there is the tiniest bit of crinkling between the body and the foot (it is much better than it appears in the photo), but no other repairs or damage. The period-engraved initials are crisp. I have only given it a light polishing, so the dark spots you see are bits of tarnish that will come off with additional polishing. William Hollingshead worked from about 1754-1785 at Arch and Second Streets in Philadelphia. Little is known about this rare maker, and his hollow ware seldom appears on the market. This item is absolutely guaranteed authentic and as described or a full refund. There are plenty of photos and I answer questions promptly and honestly. The very lucky buyer will pay $12.00 Priority Mail shipping. This includes insurance for the final bid amount. If the shipping charge exceeds $12.00, I'll take care of the overage!
