This antique French silk, which dates from the early 1800's, is absolutely STUNNING!The background silk is a cross between raspberry and coral pink.All along the length is a design of large Paisley-type motifs, crosses, and what look like cathedrals, which is brocaded into the silk in real gold and silver metal wire.I'm sure this was obviously originally an ecclesiastical fabric, possibly from a processional canopy.Condition: The top edge, as you will see from the photos, has a few splits in the silk. There are a few age related spots and very small holes in the silk near the top edge, but not on the brocaded design areas.  This wonderful rare piece is still strong enough to use in high-end projects....although being silk and metal, obviously should not be incorporated into areas which would receive too much wear and tear.It measures 14 inches at its widest, and is 67 inches (5ft 7ins) long.
