Description
Up for auction is a beautiful standing harp circa 19th century. My father purchased this harp and had the wood and brass refinished as a Christmas gift to my mother. The original strings were missing so they will need to be replaced, but in their place now are gold threads which complete the original design perfectly. Along the top and base of the stand are carvings of rams, leafs, and feathers. There is also writing on the brass plate in the front which reads "J. Erat, Maker Wardour Street, Soho, London 919." No one in our family plays the harp so we don't know if it plays or if the insides have been restored; it was puchased for its beauty & rarity as a decorative piece. A similar harp by Erat sold in 2006 at an auctionhouse in England for 4200 pounds, or roughly $8400. We are moving though and are forced to let go of large items like this one, so if you are into antiques or know other antique collectors, please be sure to check out our other items, as we are in the process of selling more from our collection. Thanks for your interest!
