Payment | Checkout | Shipping RARE 1800s BULBOUS BROWN GLAZE REDWARE CANNONBALL JUG THIS is the second of two beautifully glazed primitive jugs that we are selling here. Like the last, which we sold in July, this one has been in our family for a very, very long time, and we believe it dates to the late 1800's, perhaps earlier. The "cannonball" style jug has been handed down several times here in northeastern Pennsylvania, and it has now been in storage for way too long. We think it is time that it went to a collector who will enjoy it. The redware jug is glazed with a brown finish and has a graceful and separately applied handle. The bottom has no marks. Overall height is 7¾ inches, and the jug is about 7 inches across at the widest spot of its belly. It is empty, of course, but the mouth is plugged with some sort of stopper that appears to be metal and hard rubber. We haven't tried to take it out, and we'll leave its disposition to the winning bidder. Despite its age, the piece is in excellent condition, with no chips or cracks and only a few of the occasional blemishes that can be expected on antique redware. This will make a terrific addition to any collection of primitive crockery, and we will send it out to the winning bidder the day after payment by PayPal or Money Order. We also accept personal checks, but they must clear before shipping. Domestic postage and insurance adds $15.50.
