This one involved a cage doll. (To learn more about the history of cage dolls go to my ME page and I will direct you to our blog.) ~ Since Hallowee'n is right around the corner, I decided to incorparate that into my Cage doll ~ I started with a vintage metal lampshade base. I love the shape it created. The doll itself is made from fabric with clay hand molded over for face/neck area. The lower arms/ hands are also of clay (no molds used). Painted to look aged and then sealed. There is a wire armature in the upper arms so are poseable. She is permanently and firmly attached to top frame of shade. Her bodice/ sleeves are hand sewn on, and are of an antique crocheted fabric. The skirt is from vintage, rich thick, satiny black fabric, lined in a pretty satin salmon color. Underneath is a tea-dyed gauze skirt and a gray organza slip. I embellished with a couple of beautiful vintage buttons. The hat is painted , thick muslin and is removable. Her pet Snowy Owl is made from white fur and painted bead eyes. It has wire feet so can wrap nicely around her arm or the cage's wooden swing. The pesty bat is made from painted muslin and has wire running through the wings and for claws, so is also poseable. He likes to perch on her hat best of all! She is carrying a tiny black mask attached to a thin dowel. It slides through a loop on her lace gloves. Thanks so much for stopping by.
