This Column Or Support were used as the corner pieces of huts. That is why the 'crown' has a notch to receive a cross beam.  Scary faces of these columns were intended to keep evil spirits away from the home.. This item would be an interesting addition to any collection since it is ready to mount on the wall (the hardware used by a previous collector is included with the piece). Imagine it as a dramatic center piece of your collection with indirect lighting for greatest effect on the observer. The inlaid eyes of the head and the carved serpent on the front of the column are bone and so are the teeth.
