Description
IMPRESSIVE AND UNUSUALLY LARGE PREHISTORIC ARCHAIC POTTERY MALE FIGURE FROM COLIMA MEXICO. This majestic and soulful Pre-Columbian artifact dates from the Archaic period, 100B.C.through 250 A.D. He measures 8 3/4” in height and is 5 1/2” in width which is quite large for a “gingerbread” man and is fabricated of solid clay. The piece is in mint condition an exudes a stong and protective image with his wide paced stance. Note the pierced ears and the elongated head with a stylized turban head piece and the rope-like necklace adorning his upper torso. He is nicely burnished a rich cinnamon brown in color with numerous manganese and mineral deposits which attest to age. The artifact is guaranteed authentic and the sales price includes a custom-made metal display stand as well as all shipping and handling and insurance via USPS Priority mail within the continental U.S. A great piece and a “must” for the serious collector of ancient Pre-Columbian art.
