Classic era             DESCRIPTION This skull must have been used in burial ceremonies as part of the departing ritual. It no doubt was part of an incense burner decorative cover. It is so real looking you might think it was bone, and human. Its size could be similar to that of a young woman or boy. I can't be sure of its culture , but I would guess it to be Toltec as they used this type of incense burner. The skull is fired dark clay with no apparent pigment coloring, it has no breaks or repairs. It is 6.500" deep, 4.00" wide and 4.750" tall. This piece is part of a privet collection of some 45 pieces that I will be posting for sale over the next few months.
