HTML clipboard PAIR OF ANTIQUE TERRESTRIAL AND CELESTIAL GLOBES MASONIC LODGE This set feature an American made terrestrial globe by Rand Mc Nally , a globe maker from Chicago , and a celestial globe made in England by Johnston , distributed by Costello. Both are from the 1920's , the terrestrial globe is in very good condition with some oxidation at the seam of the gores , the celestial globe has been restored on some part ( see picture).The bases are in good condition with no missing part on the flowers or leaves. Those globes are part of the free mason symbolic to be placed on top a column.( see document below) Size of globes 12" , with base H.24.I take credit card and American Express, the transaction will go throught my store .I guaranty my Antiques to be original, shipping will be done by truck or UPS depending on size. A pair of globes atop columns are a central part of the iconography of the Masons and were used to decorate their lodges. The columns hearken back to the twin columns which are said to have been placed at the entrance of King Solomon's temple, symbolically linking the Masonic Temple with Solomon's. Generally speaking, the celestial globe is symbolic of the spiritual part of human nature, and the terrestrial globe symbolic of the material side. The terrestrial globe is in very good condition Political border of the mid to late 1920's , no mention of Yugoslavia ( 1929) but Leningrad is present ( 1924) Some restoration on different part of the celestial globe , the globe kept its decorative cachet but if you are a collector who needs thing in perfect condition this piece is not for you.
