Description
I am offering an Original Lidgerwood Steam Donkey Engine from the 1880's . It was manufactured in New York City according to the tag on the front. It is missing some parts, but not many have survived 130 plus years intact. I think it would make a fantastic project for an individual or club to restore. If you are a fan of steam, railroads, mining,or the period of the 'Wild West' , I think you can appreciate the historical importance of the machines. I do know they played a very important role in logging operations. I don't have the knowledge or ability to restore it. But it would also make a Great display piece ! Feel free to email any questions. I have a lot more pictures. I am putting local pick up on this item, but would help all I can with loading, or maybe local delivery. It is a Very heavy item ! It is approximately 8' high, 8' wide, and 8'-10' long. I can get specific dimensions if required. Please check out my other auctions ! Thanks for looking !Just to add some info; One cable spool reads Pat. May 12, 1874. The second cable spool reads; Reissued July 19, 1881.The spools are the same , just in different positions in the turn cycle. So, they are the same...must have been made post 1881.I can help in loading if needed for anyone the buyer arranges trucking with, as long as it is a flatbed or low boy trailer.Approximate weight is around 5 tons.On Aug-27-08 at 19:44:51 PDT, seller added the following information:I talked to the guy that I got it from, and he told me the previous owner lived next to Ft. Leavenworth in Kansas and the old fellow had said they used the engine to do work on post and the surrounding areas. The old man has since past so no documentation can be obtained, but hope this helps with the history questions I have gotten. Thanks !
