This sign hung outside my grandfather's pharmacy in S. Philadelphia. He bought the pharmacy in '45 and so either installed the sign upon purchase of the building or the sign was already there. The phone inside was in a wooden phone booth; people who didn't have phones themselves would either use this phone to make calls, alerted by the sign outside, or would receive calls there, upon which my grandfather would send his messenger boy to alert them that they had a call. I have seen these signs retailing for $250.The sign is dark blue with white border and graphics and measures 11 1/4" in diameter. From the flange to the opposite side measures 12 3/4". The flange is 7 1/4" high with three staggered screw holes. The sign is in good condition with a few paint marks on the flange (see pictures for details). The sign itself, however, presents without any real visible blemishes.This is a great piece in the age of cell phones and the demise of the pay phone. It will bring vintage charm to a storefront or will prove a fun addition to a phone in a house.       Item shipped when payment received. Shipping = $14; more for international.
