The top lid measures about 8 1/2 inches wide and is held in place by three screws. Globe is glass, and free of damage. I have not re-wired this light. If you need assistance in re-wiring this light, please E-Mail us. All of my lights are recovered from ship salvage yards around the world. These lights are from working vessels, and you can expect that they will have wear from use. If a light has damage, we will make every effort to describe it to you.
