For the past several weeks, needle work and sewing items from a New England collectors estate have been offered. This is another item from the collection which spanned the 19th and 20th centuries and contained items from Maine, New Hampshire and Vermont. You are bidding for an unusual scallop shaped thimble holder. Circa 1920s. The holder has great form and was likely made from some sort of gold electro plated metal. When opened the shell has space for a smaller thimble, maybe a 6 or 7. No marks indicating where this was made. Measures about 1 3/8 inches by 1 1/2 inches and is approximately 7/8 inches high. Probably had a thimble at some point but it is missing. Lid opens and closes easily but doesn't shut tightly, wasn't made with a clasp. Bidding starts at $20 with no reserve.
