This pictures depicts a scene with a young girl observing pleasantly as an older gentleman, perhaps her grandfather, appears to be threading a needle in preparation of sewing the garment on his right knee. What a wonderful tapestry. The lower left corner of the tapestry has the letters 'NFF' for the company Neyret Freres which were involved in this art form, going back to the early 1800's and up until around the time of WWII. The lower right corner reads the artist 'D' Ap Bechi'. I do not know the circa for this silk picture. The artists name is covered by the matting.  This is nicely framed with off white matting and silver metal framing and under glass. The tapestry is in excellent condition. There appears to be no damage and the black and white colors have not faded over time. There is a very small light colored mark ( approx. .25 " round) on the matting itself but does not distract from the beauty of this piece. The tapestry measures approx. 7"W by 9.5"H and the frame measures at approx. 13"W by 15"H. Place a Bid!
