This district has a long history in the Persian Rug industry. In the 19th century, many British Companies opened factories to produce fine rugs for export to Europe.Ferahan rugs were a very esthetically pleasing group. They drew upon a sophisticated design repertoire without the formality of a city workshop carpet. Technically there are a well made carpet and as a rule the dyes were very good. Ferahan rugs often used a very attractive copper green called celadon after the Chinese pottery. It would turn brittle over time and wear away leaving a sculpted look  Ferahan rugs are among the most luxurious and expensive antique Persian rug, and they have sold up to $500.00 psf at Sotheby's auctions in recent months. The Ferahan that we are offering here is very unique in pattern, with an unusual mostly plain field with a center medallion. Another thing that makes this rug so interesting is, it fabulous well balanced color combination, gorgeous navy in border and decorative redish brown in the background along with marvelous green in the top and bottom of the background. Also those abrash in the field have made this rug more eye catching.  Best of all it is in very good condition, it still has low pile withou showing any foundation whatsoever, both ends and edges are in very good shape.
