Description
Antique Red Indian tobacco hand carved store display Description Up for sale I have an antique canoe shaped store tobacco advertising display probably from the 1890's. It is hand carved with an Indian motif all over it. It had shelves in it at one time to hold tobacco products, chewing tobacco and plugs. There is trade mark on the sides, (Red Indian a symbol of Braves)(see pics). From what I could find out Red Indian was an early tobacco company from the 1890's I think part of the American Tobacco Co. The canoe is full of cracks and splits from age and is made from a light colored wood. At one time I think the names on the sides were covered over with some kind of material, as the wood looks stained in those areas. It is 5 and 1/2 feet long. Sorry I don't have any history on it, but this is really a fantastic piece of history.
