Description
This is an antique leaded glass lamp of extremely high quality which I think may be a Wilkinson from my memory of its sale many years ago at a quality auction house. I am not an expert, however, and have been unable to find the maker's mark or other signature. What I have located are three numbers in the base which I think are 251 and then a lighter number after it which I think is a 9. My assumption is that these denote a model and maybe the number of the item within the production of that design. The pictures should give a pretty good idea of the lamp -- it is exceptional in beauty both lit and unlit but especially when lit and you can really appreciate the design and rich colors. The lamp is in very find condition -- I don't think there have been any repairs, certainly none that I can see, and there are no missing panels or cracked pieces, etc. Indeed, I don't see any looseness or any other kind of wear on the shade or the lamp of any real note. The lamp and base are quite heavy -- I assume the base is brass or something -- and the base is also quite attractive in design. The lamp stands approximately 24" tall and the shade is approximately 19" in diameter. I don't know the date of manufacture but expect it is 1880 - 1920. All in all, a terrific piece. I've set a price based on its sale price at auction 25 years ago in comparison to other find leaded lamps and what I can observe about prices since then. I am happy to answer questions and provide any more detail, or look further for any maker's mark in response to request or suggetions, and I'm willing to negotiate on price and details of the terms. My goal is to sell because I'm moving from a large house to a smaller place but I am not willing in any sense to dump the lamp just to get rid of it -- it's truly a beautiful piece and I'd be happy to keep it if I cannot get a reasonable price. For shipping, I have included high figures because it is heavy and obviously needs to be insured and packaged very carefully. The lamp is currently in Cleveland but I travel to New York frequently and sometimes elsewhere so there is some room to discuss alternatives for shipping and even possible examination with some kind of contingent sale. I'm not looking to overstate what this is so I'm open to further communications for questions, price negoations or arrangements and terms if interested persons will contact me by email or send a telephone number and I'll call at your convenience or leave my information.
