Description
An original Art Deco bedside lamp with integral alarm clock, manufactured by Mofem, Hungary and marketed in France in the 1930sA wonderful expression of European Art Deco luxury, this fabulous bedside lamp clock is executed in nickel plated brass, with a domed hemisphere shade and standing on marble base. The clockwork movement are original and retain their alarm functions. Both of the lamps are signed Mofem on the glass of the clock dial. The lamps, which are now much sought-after worldwide, were produced in Hungary and retailed in Paris at the height of the Art Deco period.Size: Approximately 11 inches (28cms) in height. The diameter of the shade is about 7 inches (18cms). It is very substantially constructed and the solid marble base means that the lamp is very heavy for its size.Condition: The condition is excellent, with no damages just the most minor surface wear consistent with age. There's alittle surface marking to the dial face, as shown in the close-up photo. There are no splits, dents or cracks or other significant damages. The clockwork alarm movements have been checked and were found to both run well. The lamp retains vintage continental European wiring and is electrically untested. Please note that all vintage electricral items must be rewired to modern safety standards by a qualified electrician before use. Please see my note concerning the sale of all vintage electrical items below.References: See the sale catalogue Arts Decoratifs du 20ieme siecle, Tajan Auction House, Hotel Drouot, Paris, 25 June 2003, lot 115.This is a truly rare find that will make a fabulous gift for any discerning Twentieth Century Design enthusiast; don't miss this opportunity.© Text and photographs by room_606. It may be possible for overseas customers to pay by another means such as bank transfer in GBP£ by prior arrangement. All buyers please make contact within 3 days of auction. Payment is required within 7 days.I now only offer fully tracked forms of postage for high value items. This is because of the increasing number of instances of attempted fraud and I'm acting on unequivocal advice that I have received from Paypal/eBay. Please be assured that the postage options shown are calculated at cost, with a minimal handling fee for larger items to cover packaging materials. I pack to a professional standard; please see my feedback page for customer testimonies. If you have any questions about any of this please contact me.  Non-paymentAll non-paying bidders are, without exception, reported to eBay. This is not for the sake of being vindictive, but because eBay charges retrospective fees calculated on the actual sale price of items and this money needs to be retrieved. It's hard enough to make ends meet on here as it is! Thank you for your understanding. Please refer to eBay's policy on non-payment for more information, including its ramifications for the bidder.Condition of itemsPlease note that, unless clearly stated otherwise, my listings are for vintage/antique items and therefore, by definition, are not going to be in the same condition you would expect from a brand new item. Please be assured that I always endeavour to offer the most accurate description possible of the item's condition and take multiple illustrative photographs. Vintage electrical itemsAll vintage electrical items are sold in their original condition without electrical or safety guarantee so must always be safety checked by a qualified electrician prior to use in the country of use. ReturnsReturns are possible, if reported within 7 days and by prior arrangement, if a mistake has been made in the listing and the item is not as described, but for no other reason. I'm afraid that straightforward buyer's remorse cannot qualify and return postage costs are not included in any refund. Thanks very much for taking the time to read this. If there is anything I haven't covered please don't hesitate to contact me. Best of luck bidding!
