Customers Before you buy please, See NEW Shipping and other Information Note At Bottom Of Page Working Bright Finish Brass Nautical ROSS LONDON Fast / Slow Motion 10in Sextant In Attractive Box Why Consider This One? 1. It is a WORKING model, ROSS LONDON reproduction. 2. It comes in an attractive hardwood box. 3. Excellent Weight, approx. 5 +lbs.. 4. It is the Big One ( 10in) for more accurate readings than the smaller ones plus longer than normal telescope for better readings than most 10in models. 5. 6 large filters . 6. Firm moving filters. Index mirror has 3 fine adjustment screws. 7. Swing away degree magnifier, also raises and lowers. 8. Wood handle for comfort . 9. Fast / Slow Motion adjuster. 10. Most important the price , compare our feedback, and the ones I checked will need very little calibration, but we guarantee nothing and want every user to calibrate their sextant so they will know what to do if it gets, dropped, bumped or other misuse. We have over 99% happy customers, I believe it is because we are blunt, and try to tell the truth about each item. This is the heavy, thick brass frame. This item is a bright brass intricate working nautical ship sextant reproduction. The sextant itself is quite detailed, with 6 filter lens, twin reflective mirrors, heavy 3 1/2 to 5in telescope( fully extended ), and large swing arm. The full 10in arc is inset with white metal ( german silver) to contrast with the brass, and features individual degree demarcations. Imagine sailing ship captains in the early 1900s using an instrument like this. Crafted in the style of a century ago, this sextant has a nicely polished and finished wood handle, as well as brass stand legs for upright easy display. Additionally, it is fully functional! Ready to calibrate. All in all, would make a great gift for the sextant enthusiast and novice alike. Certainly a fine item for the sextant, brass, nautical, surveying, engineering instrument, militaria, or other collection - shines on display. After purchasing a sextant from us, please send email requesting links to more information on the web about use and calibration if you would like more help. This detailed item measures approximately 11 x 10 1/2 x 5 in. Box size is 11 1/4 x 11 x 5 3/4in. SEXT5065 To see some sextant basics and helpful information about reproductions Information you need before you buy. Sextant Sizes Sextants are measured from pivot of arm to dial or by the size of the arc. The reason this is very important is if you see a size listed as 6in for example and no other measurements, most likely it is a 5in sextant with a 6in measurement across the frame. This makes you think you are buying a 6in when in fact you are only getting a 5in. We list both measurements. Reproductions Reproductions are handmade copies of an antique, never perfect, but for those that like the look of years gone buy and are unable to get a genuine antique. If the word Working is in the title, this means the maker of the sextant says it is ready for final adjustments and calibration. We do not sell sextants as calibrated as We believe everyone should be able to calibrate their sextant, or what are they going to do if it gets dropped, bumped, or other misuse, or if it just needs to be checked for accuracy.
